My Philosophy

My goal is to provide loving support to people for their reproductive health. I support people of all ages thru all stages of female reproductive health matters. I support them in their birth control needs, pregnancy terminations, during pregnancy, during labor and delivery, postpartum care and during their transition into menopause.

To me being a midwife means helping all who need care at whatever part of the journey they are on. It is a joy to bring a baby into this world safely and with love. I believe that humans are strong and powerful.  As they go through this journey, they need love, support, and guidance. They need permission to listen to their bodies. They need someone to lean against.  Everyone need an advocate and a person devoted to their well-being during this experience.

I believe in human-milk feeding as a touchstone of infant care that can and should be nurtured. I have studied and am a certified lactation counselor. It is a privilege to support families in using human milk to feed their children. I can offer private visits and support in many forms.

It is an honor for me to support a laboring person while they bring a child into this world. It is my privilege to be present during this time and for all the postpartum needs that come after. If you are in need of care, have pregnancy or nursing questions, or want advice for the future, please get in touch.

My Story

While I was raised in NYC, we spent lots of time as children deep in the Catskills which makes the woods and nature my safe space. I found midwifery while living at a Buddhist retreat center outside of Phoenicia NY. I worked and lived there after finishing my BA at Sarah Lawrence College. Once, I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up; I started studying. I studied for my ADN and my BSN and then my MSN when I finally started practicing as a midwife in 2018. I received my certified lactation counselor certification while completing my MSN program. I went on to finish my doctorate in December 2020. I have never stopped studying and growing. I met my incredible partner through a mutual friend and gave birth to our son in the fall of 2022 in Rhinebeck NY. We now live in West Stockbridge, MA. I am loving being a mom. I am learning how to make my career and my family cohesive.

My Work

Jessica Grant, DNP, CNM, CLC

I work as a midwife in the Berkshires in Massachusetts after years of study and working within the birth world. I have studied at Ina May Gaskin’s Farm in Tennessee, at a hospital for Native Americans in New Mexico, at Stony Brook University all under the expert hands of midwives. I am a certified lactation counselor. A prenatal yoga teacher. I have cared for the underserved and the Amish in Pennsylvania where I also assisted on cesarean sections. I have worked as an assistant to a home-birth midwife, as a labor doula, and doing post-abortion care at Planned Parenthood in New York City. Now, I have the absolute privilege and honor to work as a midwife. I have specialized education and experience as a lactation counselor. I work with a fabulous team of midwives and Ob/GYNs caring for patients in the community everyday within Berkshire County.
